“With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” – 2 Peter 3:8 NKJV
DO YOU remember what you were doing ten years ago today? Chances are that it’s probably a jot in the back of your memory (after all, it has been a decade so you can be forgiven). But on a serious note as we draw a close to another year and most importantly another decade – publications are awash with their end of decade lists. Whether it’s the best album, the best artist, the best sportsman, best film or the best television series, the lists are endless.
Ten years to most people can seem like a really long time. I mean if you were to break it down that’s 3652 days, 87648 hours, 525880 minutes, and 315532800 seconds (that’s a lot of numbers right?) But did you know that the Bible says that, “with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3:8 NKJV). In other words – what for us seems like a long time – to God it’s almost nothing. What’s even more striking is that in the Book of James, it states that, “For what is your life? It is even a vapour that appears for a little time and then vanishes” (James 4:14 NKJV).
Put another way, in the grand scheme of things, we don’t have as much time here on earth to make a difference. So as we enter into a New Year and decade – how are you going to make your mark? What are you going to be remembered for when we close the year 2029?
Remember that God has given each of us a purpose here in this life and it’ s up to us to make use of those talents and not bury them like the unfaithful servant in Matthew 25 who dug he’s masters money in the ground.
Therefore, if you have been hiding in the last ten years – make it a point to stand out and expose your talent on the local, national and world stage because the world is “eagerly” awaiting the manifestation of the sons of God.
